What do you think about this relocation idea?
Patrick-Run For Your Life asked:
Why don’t three failing (finacially) teams play in 3 cities that they could possibly relocate to for 3 Pre-Season games and 5 Regular season games. Doing this could get their feet wet on whether it would be a smart idea to go to that City.
Phoenix- Hamilton, Ontario-Copps Coliseum
New York Islanders-Kansas City, Missouri-Sprint Center
Atlanta Thrashers-Winnipeg, Manitoba-Some Local Arena/Seattle Washington-KeyArena

Wouldn’t work. NHL teams have been playing exhibition games in Winnipeg and Hamilton (and Halifax and Saskatoon) for years and they’ve always sold out. In 1992-93 and 1993-94, the NHL played regular season games at neutral sites and 90% of those games sold out.
It’s actually quite easy to sell out 5 or 6 games (no corporate sponsorship required, generally no taxes, etc)…………it’s a lot harder to sell out 41 and then pay your team’s bills on top of that.

How about we relocate you to Cuba instead?
This way you can be with your boyfriend Castro forever!

Hi
Kinda restating LITY, but what he is saying is filling a rink is not the hard part, paying the bills is. To put a spin on your idea, when are the Lightning moving to Europe, they sold out there.
Thank You
